Privacy
Last updated 4 November 2026. This applies to the private beta.
In short
- Your photos are used only to make your edits.
- We never use your photos to train AI, for marketing, or for anything else, and we never sell or share them.
- Photos are deleted automatically 30 days after you start an order. You can keep them longer or delete them sooner.
Who we are
PhotoEstate is run by Greg Profitt. Questions or requests: [email protected].
What we collect
- Your email address, to sign you in. You can only sign in if you were invited.
- The photos you upload and the edited versions we make, including earlier versions if you ask for a redo. Photo files can contain hidden details, such as the camera used and, from some phones, the location where the photo was taken.
- Order details: the order name, the style settings you chose, and when things happened.
- Your permission record: that you confirmed you own the photos or have permission to edit them, the exact wording you agreed to, and when.
- Your ratings and notes on the edits.
- Technical records: file names, sizes and dimensions; the editor's log for each photo (measurements such as brightness and colour, the steps it applied, and any warnings); and a history of what happened to each order.
- Sign-in cookies that keep you signed in. We use no advertising or tracking cookies.
- If you buy credits (once paid plans start): your payment provider customer number, your plan and its renewal date, your credit balance and history, and which photos you have paid for. We never see or store card or bank details; Paddle handles those (see below).
- Short-lived counts of how often you start orders, ask for redos or request sign-in links, to prevent misuse. These are cleared after two days.
How we use it
- To edit your photos and show them back to you for download.
- To help when something goes wrong. The person running the beta can see the photos in an order to fix problems and to check edits the editor flagged as uncertain.
- To improve the editor, using your ratings, notes and the editor's measurements. These are numbers and words, not your photos.
- To keep the service safe, for example by limiting misuse.
We don't use your photos to train AI models, in marketing or portfolios, or for any purpose other than making your edits. We don't sell or share your information.
Edited photos
Edited photos don't carry over the original's hidden details, including location. Each one contains a short note saying it was automatically enhanced and that no objects were added or removed.
For each photo we also keep a smaller copy of your original (without hidden details such as location), used as the “before” view.
Once paid plans start, photos you haven't paid for yet are shown as a smaller copy with a watermark. It is stored with your photos and deleted when they are.
If you ask for a walkthrough video, we make it from your edited photos and keep it with them; it is deleted when they are.
How long we keep things
- Photos (originals, edits, earlier versions and videos) are deleted 30 days after you start the order. Each order page shows the date. You can choose Keep 30 more days, or Delete my photos now, which removes them within about 15 minutes.
- Uploads you never submitted are deleted after one day.
- Everything else (your email, order details, permission record, ratings, notes and technical records) is kept while the beta runs, so we have a record of permission and can improve the editor. Ask us and we'll delete it.
- Purchase records (once paid plans start) are kept while you have an account, and longer only where tax or accounting law requires it.
- Our database provider may keep backup copies for up to 7 days after something is deleted.
Who handles your information for us
- Supabase stores your account, order details and photo files, and sends sign-in emails.
- Railway runs the website and the photo editor.
- Paddle (once paid plans start) sells credits and plans on our behalf as the Merchant of Record. When you buy, Paddle collects your name, email, payment details and address for tax, and tells us your customer number, what you bought and whether the payment went through. Paddle's own privacy notice covers what it does with your information.
They process information only to provide their service to us.
How we protect it
- Photos are stored privately. You can see only your own orders.
- Viewing and download links are created for you when you open a page and stop working after 15 minutes.
Your choices
- Download your edits at any time while they are stored.
- Keep photos longer, or delete them now, from each order page.
- Ask for a copy of what we hold about you, a correction, or for everything to be deleted, by emailing [email protected].
Changes
If we change this page, we'll update the date at the top and tell you about important changes by email. See also our terms and refund policy.
